On invitation from the French participants in Grundfos Olympics last year, Grundfos Petanque club has been on a tour to France to play against the French Grundfos company PGF. We started from Bjerringbro June 5th at 7.30 in the morning by Vesti busses. The tour included among other things a visit in the 3000 year old Metz town by the Moselle river, a visit at the American war cemetary in Saint Avold and of course a tour through the Grundfos factory in Saint Avold.
In the petanque competition seven teams from Bjerringbro and 8 from PGF participated. The teams were placed in four parts with a mix of Danes and French. The French weres very good, they won the three parts and the Danes only one. The victory went to Brian Jensen and Inger Marie Hørlyk. They were beaten in the semifinal by the later winner of the tournament. We learned a lot by the games. There were many equal matches, but the French were too good.
It was a very good tour. We left Saint Avold by noon June 8th and went to Göttingen in Germany where we stayed the night over and reached Bjerringbro at 17.00 the following day.
