The purpose of the Grundfos Petanque Club is to promote the interest for the game. This is done by training and participation in tournaments both at home and abroad and in club championship matches and lessons in technique and strategy.
As a member of Grundfos Hobby & Sports Association you can be a member of the Grundfos Petanque Club. The price is an annual fee, see above, training weekly and participation in tournaments in DGI, club championship and tournaments at other Grundfos companies. Some activities require an additional payment.
There is training from April to October every Monday night and after October as long as the weather permits Saturday morning. In wintertime we play in the Grundfos hall with balls suitable for indoor use.
Petanque is a good sport, everyone can participate on a hobby level and on tournament level. The play does not require great physics, tactics and strategy are more important. Besides that, Grundfos Petanque Club cares for the social life with nice evenings and tours.
All you need is a set of balls and a good spirit to join the petanque game. Expensive balls are not a guarantee for success. Try to attend a training session to find out if Petanque is something for you.
The following guidelines were decided at the annual general meeting November 10, 2016.
Pétanque can be played everywhere, but is best on a gravel field.
1. The players form two teams: Two players, (single) have 3 balls each. Four players (double) have 3 balls each. Six players (triple) have 2 balls each.
2. The teams decide who will start the game.
3. The starting player draws a circle at the petanque field (diameter 30-50cm). When you throw the ball you must stand inside the circle with both feet.
4. The first player throws the jack 6 to 10 metres from the circle, at least 1 metre from the sideline and back line. On small grounds dispensation is possible so that ½ metre is enough.
5. A player from the same team throws the first ball.
6. Now the first team is closest to the jack and the other team throws a ball trying to get closer or shoot away the ball of the first team. The second team continues until they are closest to the jack.
7. Then the first team throws a ball in the attempt to get closer and this continues until all the balls are thrown by the two teams.
8. Only one team can get points in each round. The team with a ball nearest the jack gets a point for each of their balls closer than the balls of the other team.
9. The winning team draws a new circle and the play continues.
10. The winner is the team who first obtains 13 points. It is also possible to play on time.
